Balusters

Choosing stair balusters & spindles

Balusters (or spindles) are the upright posts that run between your handrail and the stair, and they define a staircase's whole look. Compare iron and wood listings by material, profile, finish and dimensions — iron can read clean and modern, while wood can bring a warmer, traditional feel.

How to choose

Decide between iron and wood, then compare the listed profile, finish and dimensions with your handrail and newels. Measure the existing spacing and confirm applicable local requirements; review whether shoes or fillets are listed for the selected connection.
